Elizabeth Pick
I offer therapy for individuals and couples in English at 'Calm Waters psychology, counselling, and family services' in The Hague.
About me
Hi, my name is Elizabeth, I am Canadian and I have lived in the Netherlands for over 30 years. I am a therapist at Calm Waters psychology, counselling, and family services in The Hague. I also provide clinical supervision as an adjunct professor to Masters in Counselling Psychology students at Webster University in Leiden. I hold a Masters in Clinical Counselling, I am a Certified Gottman Method couples therapist (CGT) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC).
In addition to private practice, I served as the staff welfare officer of an international organisation for over a decade. I have also worked in witness support and been a consultant for the Gender and Children's Unit at the International Criminal Court. Prior to my work in mental health, I was a designer and senior lecturer in graphic design in Dutch post-secondary education.
I believe in everyone’s potential to develop well-being and healthy relationships. We have great inner resources for healing and for growth. Together, we will work towards bringing awareness to the issues that have been standing in the way of you living a fuller life.
Individual therapy
Therapy can help anyone who is having trouble coping with anxiety, low-mood, or with problems at work or in their relationships.
I offer individual therapy that facilitates your personal growth, development, and self understanding, and helps you to adopt constructive life practices.
Couples therapy
If you are a couple struggling with communication problems and emotional distancing, couples therapy can help you.
I offer practical therapy that helps couples learn how to keep conflict discussions calm, to break out of habits that lead to conflict, to generate greater understanding and to increase respect, affection and closeness.
